The ceremony contained the following program:

Participants

A total of around 40 (incl. 6 children) people participated in the ceremony.  Some participants were interested in Lectures, some were interested in Party and some were in both.  All the participants are Japanese except 4 Indians.  Most of the participants came from far distances to attend the Lectures and Party.  Among the participants, two were Hiroshima University professors, two were company executives and 7 were teachers.  And the rest are general public of different walks.  Most of the participants attended with their families.

Introduction of Members (by the Founder Dr. Sasipalli VSRao)

The founder, Dr.Sasipalli VSRao, has introduced the society, its aim and activities (for details of the activities of the organization please refer main pages of the site).  Then introduced some active members of the society.  Among the active members, Ms. Yuka Fukumi was recognized as highly sociable member, taking part in many other activities of cultural and social concern in Hiroshima.

Hiroshima City Mayor's Message (read by Ms. Yuko Akinobu)

Welcome INDIA has invited the Mayor to deliver a brief opening speech.  Though the Mayor has shown extreme interest to attend and take part in our events, his busy schedules did not allow him to spare time attend our events.  However, he sent his written message, which was read by one of our member.

Brief speech by Special Guest (Prof. Emer. Tadao Ichikawa)

Prof. Emer. Tadao Ichikawa has been associated with our social organization in all its social events.  He delivered a brief speech about our organization, the continued with a brief speech on the importance of this cultural event, encouraging the Japanese people to participate in such events more and more to understand and exchange culture with different countries.  He was thanked by a flower presented by Mrs. Nageswari (Vice President, Education).

Brief speech by Hon'ble President (Prof. Koichi Harada)

Prof. Harada is an active researcher and a member of our organizations since our association in 1994.  He contributes to the promotion of education in India through our organization.  He gave brief speeches about organization and activities.

Lecture 1: Culture of Andhra Pradesh, India (by Mr. Ravi Kishore)

Mr. Ravi Kishore gave a lecture on Culture of Andhra Pradesh.  The lecture covered the following items:

  • Festivals being celebrated in Andhra Pradesh state
  • Family System in Andhra Pradesh
  • Marriage System in Andhra Pradesh

Lecture 2: History of Andhra Pradesh, India (by Mr. Sashidhar)

Mr. Sashidhar gave a lecture on History of Andhra Pradesh.  The lecture covered the following items:

  • Old Kingdoms in Andhra Pradesh
  • British Rule in Andhra Pradesh
  • Independence Struggle in Andhra Pradesh

International Cooking (by all participants)

Nearly 30 adult Japanese participated in this event.  They made Chapathis, Chicken Curry, Vegetable Curries, and many other main and side dishes of Indian delicacies and Japanese delicacies.  If you wish to view video clip of cooking, please click here.

Party & Video Watching

The party consisted of enjoying the foods and Indian movie (Muttu).  In the left wing one can see Prof. Ichikawa and Prof. Harada and Ms. Fukumi.  In the right wing one can see Mr. Hiroshi (Shindaiwa executive) and Mr. Hasegawa (ILC Corporation executive) and their families and some Japanese teachers and participants and children.  All participants enjoyed the Indian/Japanese delicacies very much.  They liked food and dances in the movie.
